Notes to Self
Dear Jane,
It's 4:30 in the morning. Perhaps that Caramel Latte you had to have on your way to work wasn't such a great idea after all... Granted, you were tired and the barista explained that the latte had 50% less calories than the Macchioto, but still... caffeine in the afternoon is NOT a good idea for you.
Those shoes you saw at the theatre on Sunday; you know, the "Beauty and the Beast" sneakers that you noticed and asked the young woman wearing them where they were from? Don't rush over to Hot Topic and try them on, just because you LOVE Belle and the movie. Remember? You're attempting to dress a bit more "your age." Maybe you could find some no-show socks instead.
Your sister's birthday is tomorrow. TOMORROW! You knew it was coming. Every time you do laundry you look at your perpetual calendar and see whose special day is approaching. You also know it takes 3-4 days for mail to get to Indiana. Why, oh why, didn't you get her card in the mail last week?!
One of the reasons you keep waking up tonight (besides the latte) is that your tummy hurts. Hopefully the Peppermint tea helps. The next time you make a "Hello Fresh" dinner and realize after the first two bites it's not good, just stop. Make toast and eggs or have a bowl of cereal. Just because you spent half an hour making the Pork Thai dish and the picture made it look yummy, doesn't mean you have to eat a bowl of it while watching "Big Little Lies." It wasn't good (the dish, not the show!)
Remember, do NOT sign up to join a wine club at the very end of a day of wine tasting. Really, you'd had quite a few tastes of yummy wine and you were caught up in the joy and excitement of it all. Pulling out your credit card and joining a rather pricey commitment wasn't your most brilliant move. Make financial decisions sober in the future!
Ok, in an effort to be kinder, I will tell you something positive. I am PROUD of you for finishing your 23rd and last lesson of your Ephesians bible study. For seven months you have read and studied and answered questions and let God's word sink in... good job Jane! Remember some of the wonderful verses you studied:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith." Ephesians 2:8
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
Ephesians 4:2
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." Ephesians 4:15
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Ephesians 4:29
Now, try to go back to sleep before it's time to get up!
Sincerely,
Your tired self
Have you needed to remind yourself of some things lately?
Grateful for Grace and in His Grip,
xo Jane
