About

Hi and welcome! Fifteen years ago I started this little blog as a way to process our move from the PNW back to the Midwest. After two years in Glen Ellyn ( where my mom grew up) we returned to our charming little city of Gig Harbor on the Puget Sound. After a five year hiatus, I am back and hope to post at least once a week.

I’ve been the wife of Michael for over 41 years and we’re empty-nester parents of four 30-something adults; two sons and two married daughters. Our children all graduated from Whitworth University. They live in San Diego , Colorado and Port Orchard, WA.

I was raised in Carmel, Indiana and I attended Ball State University, where I majored in Elementary Education and flourished as a member of Chi Omega. Although I still miss the Midwest, we’ve called Washington State our home for the last twenty-three years.

Besides teaching Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade, I spent many years as an at-home busy Mama. When the adorable baby boutique I worked at for four years closed down, I spent six months as the nanny of a sweet baby girl. (I got on-the-job training for my favorite job; being a “Mimi!”) The last couple years I have had the pleasure of subbing occasionally at our church’s preschool.

I love reading, spending time with my three grandchildren, doing bible studies with my girlfriends, taking walks around our Harbor town, cuddling our feisty cat Thor, traveling (especially to see our kids!) and inviting friends to sit around our table. Coffee or red wine? Yes, please!

I am a follower of Jesus and am aware that God takes my daily situations and turns them into life lessons. I’ll share what I'm learning here at See Jane Learn.

My hope is you’ll smile and be encouraged. Thank you so much for stopping by!

In His Grip,
Jane

  1. Hey, Jane!
I found your site on Emily Freeman's site with the "what I've learned" stuff. As I was reading your post, I felt a wave of nostalgia -- as our family lived in the wonderful Gig Harbor for the school year of 2015-16 an attended your church! We have wonderful, wonderful memories of our time there! It was so fun to read about you and your family there. Would love to share some coffee next time we visit!
Thanks -- Laura Moore, now back in Georgia
